1st entry: Barcelona arrives
Finally, after so many months of delays Barcelona is among us. So far, preliminary benchmarks are up and interesting facts are cropping up. AMD as always has great ideas but given the current financial outlook it is hard to see them getting profitable quickly which they need to urgently, otherwise....
Four cores pumping variable clock rates in order to save energy and innovative bus technology will give it definitive advantage over current dual core Opterons but Xeon will likely regain performance crown in November when Intel moves to 45nm Penryn core. One thing I know: I'd like to have a couple of these babies revving in my box. :)
